                                                                                  This is a painting of a "plane" from my "Pop's Shop"

                                                                                  series.  My father uses this tool to smooth or level the

                                                                                  surface of wood by hand.  One day I saw his plane

                                                                                  sitting out, and it was surrounded by all these freshly-

                                                                                 curled wood chips.  I wanted to capture the mood

                                                                                 of this scene, and make it feel like the worker is soon

                                                                                 to return.
